EMDR Intensives for Colorado Adults
“I want to make real progress fast, not spread it out over a year.”
What is an EMDR intensive?
An EMDR intensive is an extended session, usually 90 minutes or two hours, instead of the standard one-hour appointment. The same eight-phase EMDR protocol applies, but with enough time in a single sitting to move all the way through a target memory without stopping at the fifty-minute mark. Intensives are one of the fastest ways to make meaningful progress with EMDR.
How do intensives work?
Every intensive starts with a free 15-minute consultation and, for new clients, an initial session to learn your history and set goals. From there we schedule the intensive itself. Most intensives are 90 minutes or two hours:
- 90-minute session (~$351): an extended session with room to finish a target instead of stopping at the hour.
- Two-hour intensive (~$468): focused work on one target memory or theme.
- Three- and four-hour intensives: offered occasionally when clinically appropriate and strongly preferred by the client.
Breaks are taken throughout, whenever you request them. A 50% non-refundable deposit confirms your intensive booking. See the Rates page for current fees and payment options, including HSA and FSA cards.
Who are intensives right for?
Intensives suit adults who want to make real progress quickly: people with a demanding schedule who would rather block a morning than commit to weekly sessions for months, people who travel, people who find that a fifty-minute session ends just as they are getting somewhere, and people preparing for a wedding, a deployment, a birth, or another life event with a fixed date. They are also a good fit for existing clients who want to accelerate work on a specific target.
Intensives are not a fit for everyone. If you are in acute crisis, newly sober, or have not yet built the coping resources that EMDR relies on, we start with standard sessions first. Your consultation is where we work this out together.
Are intensives effective?
Research on intensive EMDR formats shows outcomes comparable to weekly sessions delivered over a longer period, with the added benefit of faster relief. Our post on the seven benefits of EMDR intensives walks through the evidence and what a day looks like.

- A free 15-minute consultation. You ask questions, we learn what you are looking for, and together we decide whether we are a good fit. Book a time.
- A first session focused on your story. We gather history, set the goals you want to reach, and build coping skills before any memory work begins.
- Weekly one-hour sessions, or intensives. Standard sessions run about an hour. Most EMDR intensives are 90 minutes or two hours. Current fees are on the Rates page.
- Online, anywhere in Colorado. Sessions run on a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, so you can do this work from your own space. We are licensed to work with adults who live in Colorado, from Denver to Colorado Springs and Fort Collins. Read how online EMDR works.
- Support between sessions. If a quick check-in would help between appointments, you are welcome to call or text us.
